A first date is something that can worry you endlessly. In this article, we will look at some tips that will help you put your best foot forward on that very first date. After all, as the saying goes the first impression is the best impression and a little bit of preparation can go a long way in ensuring that both of you don’t feel awkward on that first meeting.
1. Be yourselves. This is extremely important in all relationships. No matter what you do, do not try to pretend as if you are someone you are not.
2. Be cool. You are going on a date to have fun. So, there is no need to feel tensed about the outcome. Before the date, relax by doing some of your favorite activities such as a work out or a spa session.
3. Be clean. Hygiene is important when you go on a first date. Make sure that there is no body odor. Brush your teeth well to devoid of any unpleasant mouth odors as this is an important tip which is often overlooked by people. Also, take a shower before you dress, and make use of a deodorant as well as a perfume, but do not overdo it either.
4. Dress appropriately. Wear clothes that flatter your figure. Choose colors that look good on you and wear something that you are comfortable in. Stilettos may be the in thing in footwear, but if you are not comfortable in those, then flats would do just fine. The idea is to come across as someone who is confident and fun to be with.
5. Arrange for transport. If you are going to pick up your date, then make sure that your car has enough fuel and is in top shape. You don’t want any embarrassments on that front. Make sure you arrive on time, so that you don’t leave the other person waiting for you.
6. Have money. Whether you are a guy or a girl, it is imperative that you have enough money on you when you go for that first date. It is always better to go Dutch on a first date, but if the guy insists on picking up the tab, then it can be allowed.
7. Plan your conversation. This does not mean that you prepare everything that you are going to talk about, but at least spending some time thinking about this will ease your mind. It is best to avoid topics such as religion and politics on a first date. Also avoid divulging too many personal details such as your financial information and where you live, in case it is a blind date and you do not know the person beforehand.
